The story of the fight between the Crane and the Snake is known throughout many martial arts, and is used as a lesson in embodying the qualities of each animal: the large, graceful and sweeping movements of the Crane, versus the compact, focused and shocking strikes of the Snake. Depending on what is being taught, the corresponding animal is said to have won... Either way, the winner goes on to face the Tiger!
